Frequently Asked Questions & Support
Everything you need to know about hiring workshop-grade specialist automotive tools in Perth, Western Australia.
1. Booking, Availability & Collection
How does hiring tools with Specrent work?
Select your equipment on our website, pick your start and return dates on the live interactive calendar, and select your preferred pickup and return handover windows. Complete checkout to secure the booking. On your chosen date, collect the equipment in Perth during your scheduled handover window.
What are the collection and return hours in Perth?
Because we operate around working hours, our Perth collection windows are scheduled for convenience: Monday to Friday between 5:30 PM and 8:30 PM, and Saturday & Sunday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM. This allows you to collect after your day job without taking leave.
Can you deliver tools directly to my workshop or house?
Yes! During booking, you can select “Perth Metro Delivery” for a flat fee. We arrange scheduled courier drop-off directly to your home garage or commercial automotive workshop.
2. Security Bonds, ID & Payment
How does the refundable security bond work?
Specialty automotive tools cost between $600 and $2,500+ to replace. A refundable security bond (typically $200–$400) is held during the hire. Within 24 to 48 hours of return, we verify all pins, mandrels, and adapters are intact, and the full bond is immediately refunded back to your card.
What ID is required to collect equipment?
You must present a valid Australian Driver’s License or government photo ID corresponding with the billing name on your booking. A brief handover condition checklist is signed at collection.
What if an individual pin or adapter is misplaced?
We source wholesale replacement components directly from OEM tool manufacturers. Only the cost of the specific missing component (plus standard postage) is deducted from your bond. You are not charged for the entire tool kit.
3. Tool Operation & Hire Extensions
What if I need the tool for an extra day or two?
Contact us via phone, SMS, or the form below before your return window. If the equipment is not booked by another customer, we will happily extend your rental at our discounted daily rate.
Can I use an impact wrench (rattle gun) on pullers or lead screws?
No. Precision threaded pullers, bushing press tools, and camshaft locking mandrels must always be turned by hand with hand ratchets or spanners using appropriate thread grease. Impact guns strip precision threads and void damage waivers.
